Belly Bump Update – Week 25

21 May

This weekend turned out to be a wash in terms of weather, it was cold and rainy and I was un-motivated to wear anything but leggings. I did manage to still get outside for a walk on Saturday, before the rain and get a picture of my belly at 25 weeks!

25 weeks pregnant belly.jpg

How far along: 25 Weeks

Total weight gain: I am not weighing myself at home, because the scale here says something different than the dr.’s scale. But as of last week I was up 20 pounds. Slightly more than I wanted to gain at this point, but it was all the first trimester because of all my food aversions. Since then the weight gain has been right on point, hoping it’ll slow down a little bit so I don’t gain more than 35 pounds.

Stretch marks: None yet.

Maternity clothes: Yes, but some of my pre-pregnancy shirts still fit, so making sure I wear them now before I can’t anymore!

Belly Button in or out?: In

Sleep: Still pretty good! Both nights this weekend I slept almost 10 hours each! Might as well get it in now before it’ll be taken away by a crying baby!

Best moment this week: Having a great 24 week dr.’s appt. Everything’s looking good, and that’s all I can ask for!

Worst moment this week: Having a “I have no idea what to wear to work” moment.

Miss Anything?: Wine, feta and running. I know I can still run, but with my bad back I know it’s best that I don’t. Although i’ve been jogging a little bit during my walks.

Movement: Non-stop movement! Feel it mostly when i’m sitting or laying down and little girls seems to be kicking my bladder!

Food cravings: I don’t really have any cravings that are weird. Been craving eggplant parm, anything iced (iced coffees, iced tea, etc. all decaf of course), chinese food.

Anything making you queasy or sick: No, thank god that’s been over for awhile now.

Have you started to show yet: YES! Over the past week I feel like i’m really starting to pop, to the point where other people are really starting to notice. The belly literally gets bigger overnight!

Gender: It’s a girl! We found out awhile ago, but i’ve been really bad about posting anything on the blog so doing a bit of catching up.

Symptoms: Honestly, nothing to really complain about. I am blessed to be having a great pregnancy. I do have some symptoms that are a little bothersome: having to pee every 15 minutes, slightly swollen feet once in awhile, overheating.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Now that my hormones have leveled out, the moodiness is gone. Mostly happy, with an occasional sobfest watching TV. (i.e. Vampire Diaries season finale)

What I’m reading: Still reading through What To Expect When You’re Expecting but really need to start reading up about when baby comes. Any recommendations?

Looking forward to: The baby nursery being painted this week!

On Trend: Graphic Prints

Get the look! Sunglasses – Coach (similar), Necklace – Stella and Dot, Dress – Destination Maternity (non-maternity option similar, ), Shoes – Sole Society, Bag – Boutique (similar)

Graphic Prints were one of those spring trends that I wasn’t crazy about, but when I spotted this dress on sale at Destination Maternity I figured i’d give it a try! I ended up loving it on, and got tons of compliments. Also, the print kind of hides my growing bump? maybe??

Also, how cute are these black and white graphic print shoes?!

Get the look! Sweater – J.Crew (Similar), Lace Top – Pea in the Pod (similar) , Belt – Small shop in Hoboken (similar), Leather Leggings – Zara, Shoes – Sole Society

Lace is a big trend for the Spring and I just so happen to own a few lace pieces in my closet that still fit!  YAY!!  Although in this picture, I don’t even look pregnant.  Don’t be fooled by what looks like a gorgeous sunny day, which it is, but the temperature when I took this picture was an icy 32 degrees!  WHERE IS SPRING?

Today i’m linking up with Marionberry Style for her trend of the month link-up.  Head on over to see how she’s styling her outfit with lace.  She’s looking fabulous after just having a baby!  Keeping my fingers crossed that I can do the same.

Weekend Outfit: Mint + Navy

I love, love, love Mint for Spring.  I have a pair of mint jeans, a mint necklace and a mint shirt that i’ll be adding to my outfits as the weather get’s warmer.  There are so many great color combinations that can be paired with mint, but I think mint and navy is one of my favorites.  This mint polka dot shirt was the closest thing to green that I could find in my closet that still fits so this was my St. Patty’s Day outfit for lunch with friends.

What color combinations are you excited for this Spring?

Trench Coats for Spring – My Top Picks

13 Mar

Today’s gloomy weather in NYC, got me thinking that Spring is right around the corner and with that comes warmer temperatures as well as rain!  My current puffy coat will soon be retired for a trench coat that I am currently in the market for and need help deciding!  Here are some of my top picks!

Trench Coats for Spring

1. Tan trench coat – This classic version from the Gap is under $100 and with the usual Gap discounts of 25%-40% off this is a great buy.  I can wear this open with the belt tied to accentuate my growing bump, but can also wear in the fall once Baby Nilsen is born.

2. Black trench coat - This Kenneth Cole trench is another classic option in black.  Black is easier to clean than tan, and is a timeless option.

3. Belted Wrap Maternity Jacket - This Isabella Oliver maternity wrap jacket is definitely out of budget, but if money was no option, it would be my first pick!  Can be worn open or closed, easy to layer and just looks chic and comfortable.

4. Pink Peplum Trench – I don’t know about you, but I love the peplum trend and this pink peplum Jessica Simpson jacket is so fun and feminine.  This jacket will brighten up any rainy day.

5. Polka Dot Trench - Polka dots are one of those trends that I just can’t get enough of, and this Navy jacket with white polka dots is very preppy chic.  Can you believe you can find this one at Kohl’s??

6. Leather Sleeve Trench – This BCBG jacket is the perfect blend of classic and trendy.  I just love how the leather sleeves gives the jacket a colorblock look.  Two trends in one!

Classic of Trendy?  What are your thoughts?

I’m Back + Big Announcement

11 Mar

So I first want to apologize to all my followers for taking a longer than expected hiatus from YFW. It’s just that, for the past two and a half months i’ve been adjusting to body changes, nausea and exhaustion. Any guesses??

20130310-203819.jpg

We are having our first baby!! We are over the moon happy about taking the next step in what is already an amazing life that we have both worked very hard to build for ourselves and now bring a child into.

Back to the blog. While i’m not proud that I took time off from something that I am passionate about and was just starting to gain a following for, the first trimester really took a toll on me. I felt awful and was un-motivated. While i’m not really showing too much yet, my body started changing almost instantly and all I wanted to do was be in sweats. Not very fashionable!

But now that I feel amazing and like a human again, the motivation is back. The blog will continue to focus on fashion and beauty, and I promise this will not turn into a pregnancy blog. But I do however hope to appeal to not only my existing followers, but also show other moms-to-be that there are affordable options and creative ways to look fashionable during pregnancy.

Thanks for your understanding and I look forward to sharing my fashionable pregnancy journey with you all!

Stay tuned….
